Product Overview
  The 800G optical module is a new generation of high-speed optical communication module, mainly used in data centers, AI computing clusters, cloud computing, and high-performance computing (HPC). It provides high-bandwidth, low-latency, and highly reliable solutions for the transmission of large-scale data traffic.
 
Higher transmission rate: The 800G optical module offers a data transmission capacity of up to 800Gbps, which is twice that of the 400G optical module, significantly enhancing the network bandwidth and data processing capabilities. This advancement is crucial for supporting future ultra-large-scale data centers, especially with the development of technologies such as 5G, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT), leading to an explosive growth in data traffic. 
 
Advanced modulation technology: The 800G optical module adopts the 100G PAM4 (Four-level Pulse Amplitude Modulation) technology, which can carry more data by increasing the transmission levels of the signal under the same bandwidth conditions. This technology significantly improves the spectral efficiency, doubles the data transmission rate, and further enhances the transmission capacity of the optical module, meeting the application scenarios with higher bandwidth requirements. 
 
Multiple packaging forms: The 800G optical module supports various packaging forms, including 800G OSFP (Octal Small Form-factor Pluggable), 800G QSFP-DD (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable Double Density), and 800G QSFP112. The 800G OSFP is suitable for high-density data center environments, providing high bandwidth and excellent heat dissipation performance. The 800G QSFP-DD, with its double-row gold finger design, supports higher transmission rates and is suitable for high-speed interconnections. Meanwhile, the 800G QSFP112 not only provides high bandwidth but also has a smaller packaging volume, making it suitable for scenarios with high requirements for space and power consumption. These different packaging forms offer flexible and efficient solutions for different data centers and networks.
 
Working principle
  Electrical Signal Input and Modulation: The switch or server sends high-speed electrical signals to the 800G optical module through the electrical interface. The 800G optical module uses PAM4 modulation. Compared with the traditional Non-Return-to-Zero (NRZ) code, PAM4 can transmit data at twice the rate under the same bandwidth conditions.
Optical Signal Emission and Transmission: The modulated signal is converted into an optical signal by a laser (such as an EML or a silicon photonic chip), and then transmitted to the optical fiber through multi - lane parallel or Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology. Vertical - Cavity Surface - Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) are commonly used for Multi - Mode Fibers (MMF), while Distributed Feedback Lasers (DFBs) or EMLs are typically used for Single - Mode Fibers (SMFs).
Optical Signal Reception and Demodulation: The optical module at the receiving end converts the optical signal back into an electrical signal through a photodetector (PIN/APD). Then, it uses a DSP (Digital Signal Processing chip) for signal equalization, noise reduction, and error correction (FEC). Finally, it outputs a stable high - speed electrical signal.
Error Correction (FEC): Due to the relatively low signal-to-noise ratio and high bit error rate of the PAM4 modulation method, the 800G optical module usually integrates the FEC function to reduce the Bit Error Rate (BER) and ensure the reliability of data transmission.
